Video: Former SARCÓFAGO Frontman Performs With MYSTIFIER In Brazil
September 4, 2013Wagner "Antichrist" Lamounier, former vocalist for the long-defunct Brazilian cult '80s black/death metal band SARCÓFAGO, joined Brazilian black metallers MYSTIFIER on stage on August 9 in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil to sing the classic SARCÓFAGO song "Nightmare". Fan-filmed video footage of his appearance in front of around 300 fans at Matriz Casa Cultural can be seen below.
Formed in 1985 in Belo Horizonte, SARCÓFAGO (Portuguese for "sarcophagus") has been described as one of Brazil's most controversial metal bands ever. The front cover of the group's debut album, "I.N.R.I." (1987),was an early influence on black metal's image, especially with respect to the corpsepaint-style makeup.
MYSTIFIER recently inked a reissue agreement with the Florida-based label Greyhaze Records. The deal will involve the re-release of two classic albums by this cult band. The LPs in question are "Wicca" (1992) and "Goetia" (1993). Long out of print, both efforts will be reissued by Greyhaze in different formats, including deluxe CD/DVD digipaks of each album as well as deluxe vinyl versions. The releases will feature rare photos, bonus audio tracks, videos and other band memorabilia.
